Commercial Conveyancing Legal Secretary Up to £29,000 – East London

An exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about delivering the highest levels of support to an established Commercial Conveyancing team.

The Legal Secretary’s principal role is to provide the fee earner to whom they report to with the support they need to perform the task of providing legal services to clients and help them maximise the amount of time they are able to spend on fee earning tasks, by assisting with the management and execution of their day-to-day workload.

What you’ll be doing

  • Opening new files and completing Anti-Money Laundering checks and ID checks via Thirdfort
  • Preparing and drafting documents such as company board minutes, written resolutions, mortgage deeds, contracts, transfer deeds, rent authority letters, leases, rent deposit deeds, lease extension deeds, licences and deeds of variation.
  • Photocopying, printing, scanning & organising couriers.
  • Closing files.
  • Taking internal and external telephone queries from agents and clients, responding as appropriate and/or ensuring that all messages are passed on in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring post and/or emails and dealing with as appropriate.
  • Dealing with basic queries and general administration.
  • Preparing bills and assisting with the billing process by liaising with the fee earner and accounts department as required.
  • Preparing completion statements
  • Requesting cheques, bank transfers and paying in money received, as appropriate.
  • Drafting SDLT forms
  • Registering charges at Companies House via web-filing.
  • Preparing AP1s applications to be submitted to the Land Registry online portal.
  • Use conveyancing panel portals such as LMS and Lender Exchange
  • Ensure applications are submitted within the OS1 priority period and requisitions replied to before the cancellation date.
  • Providing reception cover from time to time when needed.

What you’ll have

  • At least 1 years’ experience operating in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the Commercial Conveyancing process is essential
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear client interactions and documentation.
